Welcome to our Post-16 Provision.
As Post-16 Pathway Lead, I am incredibly proud of the opportunities, experiences, and support we provide to help our young people prepare for adulthood and achieve their aspirations. Our provision is designed to develop independence, confidence, employability skills, and personal wellbeing, ensuring that every student is equipped with the knowledge and skills they need for their future.
We recognise that every learner's journey is unique. Through a personalised curriculum, meaningful work-related learning, community engagement, and careers education, we support students to identify their strengths, explore their interests, and work towards ambitious but realistic goals. Whether students are preparing for further education, employment, supported internships, volunteering, or independent living, we are committed to helping them make successful and positive transitions beyond school.
This year, we continue to expand opportunities for work experience, enterprise projects, community-based learning, and accredited qualifications, enabling students to develop valuable real-world skills and experiences. We work closely with families, employers, and external partners to ensure that students receive the support and guidance they need to thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our Post-16 Provision. We look forward to working together to help every young person reach their full potential and build a fulfilling future.

Post 16 Curriculum
Our Post-16 curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to prepare for adulthood, future employment, further education, and independent living. Learning is personalised to meet individual needs while promoting confidence, independence, and aspiration.
Students continue to develop their core academic skills through Functional Skills Maths and English and GCSE Maths and English, ensuring they build the literacy and numeracy skills needed for everyday life and future progression. Alongside this, students work towards their individual targets through My IEP, enabling them to celebrate achievements and develop key personal outcomes.
Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on student voice and active citizenship. Through Votes for Schools, students explore current issues, share their opinions, and develop an understanding of democracy and the world around them.
Vocational learning forms a key part of the curriculum, with students working towards qualifications in BTEC ICT, BTEC Art and Design, BTEC WorkSkills, and BTEC Performing Arts. These courses allow students to develop valuable practical, creative, and employability skills while exploring areas of personal interest and potential career pathways.
To support Preparing for Adulthood outcomes, students participate in a range of practical and life-skills-based learning opportunities, including Travel Training, Cookery, Digital Skills, PSHE, and Careers Education. These subjects help students develop independence, confidence, personal responsibility, and an understanding of the pathways available to them after leaving school.
Physical wellbeing is promoted through PE, encouraging students to lead active and healthy lifestyles while developing teamwork, resilience, and confidence.
Our aim is to provide a broad, balanced, and meaningful curriculum that empowers every student to achieve their potential, make informed choices about their future, and successfully transition into adult life.
Enrichment Opportunities
At Wightwick Hall, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme provides students with opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence, discover interests, and strengthen friendships in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Students can take part in a variety of enrichment activities, including Forest School, where they develop teamwork, problem-solving skills, resilience, and an appreciation of the natural environment. Through outdoor exploration students are encouraged to develop independence, social skills, and confidence within the wider community.
For students with a passion for strategy, creativity, and social interaction, Tabletop Gaming offers opportunities to build communication, teamwork, decision-making, and critical thinking skills. Our Creative Crafts sessions allow students to express themselves artistically while developing fine motor skills, patience, creativity, and pride in their achievements.
Alongside our enrichment programme, we work hard to develop a wide range of work experience opportunities that reflect students' interests, strengths, and future aspirations. By working closely with local employers and community partners, we aim to provide meaningful placements that help students gain valuable workplace skills, experience real working environments, and prepare for their next steps into further education, training, volunteering, or employment.
Through these opportunities, students are encouraged to become confident, independent young adults who are well prepared for life beyond school.
