Ethos and Values
Our Mission
At Wightwick Hall School, our ethos of being Ready, Respectful and Resilient guides everything we do.
We are committed to:
• Nurturing every student so that they can grow with confidence and flourish in all aspects of their lives, becoming ready to embrace new learning and new experiences.
• Teaching our students to be respectful to others, to themselves, and to their environment and to take responsibility for their actions and their learning so that they arrive ready to learn each day.
• Providing an outstanding, holistic and personalised educational experience for students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring each learner receives the support they need to be resilient and successful.
• Creating a welcoming, happy and supportive environment where individual achievement is celebrated and the joy of learning is encouraged, helping students develop pride and self belief.
• Offering rich opportunities for learning beyond the classroom through our outdoor education curriculum, residential provision and adventurous activities which foster independence, resilience and teamwork.
• Enabling every student to develop positive self worth and self esteem by nurturing their well-being and providing meaningful opportunities for success and achievement.
• Supporting our students to overcome barriers so they can lead happy, fulfilled and purposeful lives as adults within society, equipped with the skills and resilience they need for the future.
• Delivering a relevant, adapted and challenging curriculum that is tailored to the individual needs of each learner so that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
• Creating a caring and inclusive community where dignity, respect and diversity are valued and each individual is recognised for their unique talents and strengths.
• Continually developing our staff so they can provide the highest quality learning experience and model what it means to be ready, respectful and resilient.
• Ensuring our school is fully inclusive where all children can thrive and achieve regardless of background or needs.
• Providing well resourced classrooms and learning environments so that every student receives a first class educational experience.
• Working in genuine partnership with families and external agencies to meet the diverse needs of each student and to provide consistent support that strengthens resilience and promotes positive outcomes.
• Valuing the voices of our students through an active student council and by involving learners in shaping their support plans and wider school development. Their contributions help make Wightwick Hall a unique and empowering place to learn.
We believe that every student can succeed and achieve. It is a privilege to support them on their individual learning journey and to help them become ready, respectful and resilient young people who thrive in school and beyond.
