Experienced Sensory Teacher – Year 5 & 6 (Sensory / complex needs)
Cherry Trees Special School is an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school and is situated in South Staffordshire in the large village of Wombourne. It is part of the Endeavour Multi Academy Trust.
We are looking for an outstanding sensory teacher with extensive experience supporting children in upper Key Stage 2 who present with complex learning, sensory, and communication needs.
This is a unique opportunity to join a nurturing and specialist setting where sensory approaches are central to teaching and learning. You will be working with pupils in Years 5 and 6 who may have profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, sensory processing challenges, and/or significant medical needs.
We are seeking someone who:
- Is a qualified teacher with a strong background in SEND, particularly with children aged 9–11 who require highly personalised, sensory-based learning.
- Has a deep understanding of sensory integration and can design and deliver engaging, multi-sensory lessons that support regulation, communication, and cognitive development.
- Can skilfully adapt the curriculum to meet individual EHCP outcomes, using creative approaches that promote independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Works collaboratively with families, therapists, and support staff to create consistent and responsive learning environments.
- Is confident in using sensory rooms, outdoor spaces, and therapeutic strategies to enhance engagement and progress.
- Brings warmth, resilience, and a reflective mindset to a team that values child-led practice and holistic development.

The responsibilities of the post are to be performed in accordance with the provisions of the most up to date edition of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document and within the range of teachers’ duties set out in that document, and taking into account the Teachers’ Standards as set out by the Department for Education.
